Local Commitments
SAVING LIVES IN CORWEN
We have been based in the town of Corwen for many years and are proud to be a successful welsh business. As well as employing local people and purchasing goods from local suppliers where possible, we are committed to keeping our ‘local’ values at the heart of what we do.
Our Local Social Commitment project is called ‘Saving Lives In Corwen’. Read more about the various local initiatives, all aimed at saving lives in our community, below.

If you have an idea for developing this project, please do get in touch with us. Whether you want to find out more about the classes/training on offer, or if you have an idea of new life-saving skills to share in the community, we would be pleased to hear from you.
We are keen to make sure that this becomes an ongoing and sustainable part of our community. Call 01490 413 282 or email sarah@ruthlee.com
Defibrillator - Heart start training
We have now purchased two defibrilators for the local community, one being situated outside Evans Butchers in Corwen Town Centre and the other outside the Village Hall in Glyndyfrdwy.
In addition to supplying the equipment, we worked with Welsh Hearts to deliver free heart-start and CPR training to local people.

Parent/carer Paediatric First Aid
We worked with Corwen Leisure to supply a first aid bundle to the Leisure Centre, to be used to deliver a range of courses including Baby CPR. The first course was held in December 2018 and was well attended by parents and grandparents.

Water Safety Workshops
The River is a big attraction to both tourists and local people. It is particularly popular with teenagers in the summer months, who swim in the cool, clean waters.
But it’s easy to get into trouble in open water, especially cold river water. Cold Water Shock can strike quickly and so we are looking to create a series of workshops for local people – focused on water safety, they will provide useful information on what to do if you get into trouble in open water, and some life-saving skills.
We hope to work with Corwen Leisure to facilitate this programme to local people.

Sponsored calendar in aid of McMillan
We were approached by the local community to sponsor a 2018 calendar being created to support McMillan Cancer. Sadly, many of us are touched by cancer in our lifetime, either directly, or through a friend or family member suffering the disease. Local residents of Corwen, all of whom had been affected by cancer, had come together to pose for photograhs for a lovely calendar and our sponsorship helped towards the cost of printing this. We were pleased to offer the total of £700 towards this project.

Blue Sky / Awyr Las Donation
IN 2017 we made a donation of £1,000 to The North Wales NHS charity, Blue Sky (Awyr Las), which provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS is able to fund.
When making the donation, we specified cancer services as the intended recipient of the funds.
