DON’T BE A DUMMY!
Did you SPOT the odd one/s out in the images above? There are a couple of examples where a different manikin would be a better choice!
Duty Range manikin during fire training
It’s true the Duty Range is a great all-round manikin, but for use in live fire training we would always advise using a Fire House Manikin.
Duty Range manikin for harness/working at height training
Not only is this a rather ancient Duty Range manikin (the ‘flat’ head gives it away!), we would also advise using our Working at Height manikin for this training involving harness.
The other 3 photos demonstrate the correct use of our manikins. The Man Overboard manikin being used for swift water rescue, our Working at Height manikin being used in a rescue from a mountain using a basket and harness (although you may also want to consider our Mountain Rescue manikin) and our Multi-Trauma manikin used in an extraction from a RTC.
THE RIGHT MAN(IKIN) FOR THE JOB
Whilst we are proud of how versatile our manikins are, we would always recommend certain manikins for certain training.
Below are some tips and advice for which manikin to use and when…
Water Rescue Training
This model can float horizontally or vertically to simulate a live person or dead body – it comes with bright orange overalls and SOLAS reflective tape making it very conspicuous in open water.

Predominately designed to aid dive teams train to recover bodies from any inland waters or under ice, this manikin can also be detected on sonar equipment.
A versatile manikin which can be used for water rescue and working at height training scenarios. The increased weight versus the Man Overboard Manikin makes this model suitable for simulating rescues from wind turbines, engine rooms or drilling platforms, as well as from the water.
This dummy has arms aloft and was developed as a water rescue dummy for IRB Racing, IRB driver training & Tube Rescue practice and was also found to be suitable for Jet Ski rescue training and other general rescues scenarios.

FIRE MARSHAL MANIKIN
A very useful manikin for community fire safety training. The chest area can be set alight and will withstand temperatures up to +700º C with no damage.
General Rescue Training
