Each year, the 19th – 26th June is recognised as Drowning Prevention Week. Organised by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), this campaign aims to help everyone across the UK enjoy water, safely!
Considering the hot weather we are having at the moment, and the increase in call-outs to water rescue teams across the country, it’s certainly a good message to get behind and one that we have supported for over 20 years, working with countless water rescue teams all over the world to train to save lives!
Through this vision of helping to reduce the number of deaths due to drowning, we were delighted to join the RLSS in 2020 as Water Safety Partners.

Training has never been this realistic – The Advanced Water Rescue Manikin
Blending water rescue training and medical skills acquisition, our Advanced Water Rescue Manikin is the world’s first training manikin of its kind for anyone involved in the rescue and resuscitation of drowned casualties.
This manikin allows you to accurately simulate the rescue of a drowning victim from the water and then continue with essential medical care once it is pulled into your boat or onto dry land. This lets both rescuers and medical practitioners train more effectively and more quickly, under pressure and in hostile conditions.
Designed in collaboration between our team here at Ruth Lee and with David Halliwell and the experts at Lifecast Body Simulation.

Changing lifeguard training around the world – The Pool Rescue Manikin
The Pool Rescue Manikin is a revolutionary new product designed to innovate the way lifeguard training is conducted.
This product brings together different elements of lifeguard training, allowing trainees to seamlessly practice different techniques without needing to switch between different equipment or live volunteers.
We think that this lifeguard training manikin is the ideal tool for all leisure centres, swimming pools and clubs.
Designed specifically for lifeguard training and developed with assistance from the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) UK. It has been tested extensively by RLSS trained lifeguards and has been officially endorsed by the RLSS UK as a tool for lifeguards.
It can also be used in conjunction with many different apparatus including Pool Extraction Boards (PXB).
