In the UK, we have a fantastic Fire and Rescue Service, where regular training helps to keep firefighters well-equipped mentally and physically to deal with the range of emergencies they might face. It’s shocking to hear of the difficulties faced by some foreign firefighters. From old and outdated equipment to a lack of structured and relevant training, often putting in danger the lives of those who are committed to saving others. Global Fire & Rescue Partnership are a registered charity who are battling to challenge this equality.
The organisation is 100% volunteer run with the sole aim of improving safety for foreign firefighters and emergency services workers. Global Fire & Rescue Partnership campaign for donations of surplus rescue equipment, regardless of size, or training which can be transferred to firefighters abroad.
At Ruth Lee we work closely with the emergency services to develop a range of training manikins which are fit-for-purpose and meet the requirements of their training. We were therefore pleased to be able to help Global Fire & Rescue Partnership with a donation of a Man Overboard Manikin.
The manikin has already been put to good use by Kenan, a Bosnian Firefighter who is visiting the UK supported by Global Fire & Rescue Partnership. Kenan has recently attended a water rescue course at Outreach and we were able to visit the centre to meet Kenan and take some photos. It looks like our manikin will be put to good use by Global Fire & Rescue Partnership for years to come.

Thank you to Outreach Rescue for allowing us to visit Kenan on his course with them for photos
