In a remarkable testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence, Ruth Lee Ltd has been honoured twice within a span of just three weeks with invites to both Windsor Castle to meet King Charles and to 10 Downing Street to meet the newly elected Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. These prestigious invitations highlight our commitment to improving rescue training and safety worldwide.
Sarah’s Royal Encounter at Windsor Castle
Sarah Hampson, our Global Marketing Manager and the heart and soul of our drowning prevention initiatives, had the extraordinary honour of representing Ruth Lee Ltd at Windsor Castle. Sarah was invited to the iconic venue to accept our second King’s Awards for Enterprise. This award, in the Innovation category, celebrates the global impact of our Pool Rescue Manikin.
The Pool Rescue Manikin, developed in collaboration with the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), has revolutionised lifeguard training across the globe. Since its launch in 2018, an estimated 8,000-10,000 pool lifeguards, spanning 25 countries, have used it to hone their lifesaving skills.
At the event, Sarah had the unique opportunity to meet King Charles. Reflecting on the experience, she shared:
“Shaking hands with King Charles and discussing our manikins, he noted that some of the manikins available now are incredible. It was an unforgettable moment and a proud milestone for Ruth Lee.”
Paul McDonnell’s Prestigious Invitation to 10 Downing Street
Just three weeks following Sarah’s royal engagement, our Managing Director, Paul McDonnell, was invited to a Summer Business Reception at 10 Downing Street, hosted by the UK’s new Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer. This exclusive event gathered around 100 senior business leaders from renowned companies such as Jaguar Land Rover, Google, and Barclays.
As a recent recipient of The King’s Awards for Enterprise for Innovation, Paul was specifically invited by the Prime Minister to discuss key issues pertinent to Ruth Lee Ltd’s future growth. The discussions at 10 Downing Street emphasised the new government’s commitment to fostering business innovation, encouraging investment, reducing bureaucratic hurdles, and expanding apprenticeship programs.
Paul recounted his experience with enthusiasm:
“It was such a special recognition for Ruth Lee and a personal thrill for me to be invited by the PM to Downing Street. Walking through THAT iconic door, known globally, was an amazing experience. Hearing the new Government’s plans to support businesses was very encouraging for our future endeavours.”
These significant recognitions at Windsor Castle and 10 Downing Street highlight the dedication and excellence of our team. We are immensely proud of our achievements and remain committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation in rescue training and safety and to introducing these products around the world to improve global rescue training.
